In college, I almost went to graduate school to study physical chemistry because I was fascinated by that kind of work. However, I knew I wanted to do research whilst maintaining a human element. That led me to pursue an MD-PhD programme in the USA, where you begin medical school, complete a PhD midway through, and then return to finish medical school.
