The Erode Corporation has announced that it will disconnect water supply connections of major property tax defaulters as part of its measures to improve revenue collection.
According to a press release, the Corporation has 1,48,017 property tax assessments, of which 1,09,017 property owners have not paid property tax for the 2026-27 financial year. The outstanding dues comprise arrears of ₹20.61 crore and current demand of ₹57.12 crore.
The Corporation had earlier published on its website a list of 100 major property tax defaulters for the financial year 2025-26. An amount of ₹9.65 crore remains unpaid by these defaulters.
