The Erode Corporation on Wednesday (October 14, 2026) began collecting special care waste from households as part of the implementation of the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026, which mandate segregation of waste at source into four categories.

The four categories are wet waste, dry waste, sanitary waste and special care waste, also known as domestic hazardous waste.
