Ernakulam reports highest number of influenza cases in State
The Ernakulam district in India has reported the highest number of influenza cases in the state for July, with 993 infections and several fatalities. Health officials are urging the public to adopt preventative measures like masking and social distancing.

Ernakulam continued to report the highest number of influenza infections in the State in July as well. A total of 993 cases were reported till July 27 in the district.
A total of 2,468 cases of influenza were recorded in the State in July. The disease claimed 24 lives this month. The total number of cases in the State this year stood at 5,519, with as many as 60 deaths being reported.
According to a senior Health department official, the number of H1N1 cases is high, and the public needs to follow precautionary measures to prevent such infections.
“We have continued to give recommendations and advisories to the public to follow cough etiquette, wear masks, use sanitisers, and maintain social distancing. This is essential to control the spread of infections,” said the official.
