The pair worked together at Chelsea and the 25-year-old Argentina international joined City from the Blues for a joint-British record £125m on deadline day.

Maresca said Fernandez is "ready" to make his City debut against newly promoted Coventry City in the Premier League at Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

"I know Enzo quite well and I know what he can bring to the team," Maresca said.
