Why it matters
Grassroots environmental activism plays a role in shifting public behavior toward sustainable practices and climate consciousness.
As part of 24-year-old environmental activist Ayan Banerjee’s 7,000-km national walking mission to promote sustainable living, an environmental awareness rally was organised recently at Puducherry Beach. The awareness rally was held coinciding with the arrival of his yatra in Puducherry.
During his yatra, Ayan has plans to distribute 3,000 seeds and as he passed through Puducherry, the activist distributed 150 seeds to different institutions. The Sri Aurobindo International Centre for Education hosted three sessions with Ayan. He encouraged people to use less plastic, protect nature and waste segregation.
