Entry, exit of six Delhi metro stations closed on Oct 12 as Opposition plans march to Supreme Court

Delhi Metro has closed six stations in central Delhi due to security concerns surrounding an opposition march to the Supreme Court. Opposition leaders sought a meeting with the Chief Justice regarding election integrity allegations, but the request was declined as the matter is currently sub judice.
Why it matters
The closure of major transit hubs reflects the high level of political tension and the potential for civil unrest in the capital.
Entry and exit at six metro stations will remain closed from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday (October 12, 2026) ahead of the Opposition’s Supreme Court march , the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said in a post on X.
The six metro stations where entry and exit will remain closed are: Patel Chowk, Janpath, Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House, Central Secretariat and Barakhamba Road, the DMRC said.
“The situation will be reviewed by the security agencies and necessary updates will be shared accordingly. However, interchange facility will remain available at all the concerned metro stations,” it further said.
