Ensure functional internal committees at all workplaces: KWC chairperson

Kerala Women’s Commission chairperson P. Sathidevi has mandated that all workplaces establish functional internal committees to address harassment. She also encouraged the public to utilize the commission's free counseling services for various grievances.
Why it matters
Strengthening internal workplace mechanisms is a critical step in improving safety and legal recourse for women in the professional environment.
Kerala Women’s Commission (KWC) chairperson P. Sathidevi has called for strengthening internal committees in workplaces to prevent atrocities against women.
Speaking after a sitting of the KWC at the Kozhikode Collectorate conference hall on Monday (August 17), Ms. Sathidevi said all government offices and private institutions should have functional internal committees and details of the committees should be prominently displayed.
Employees should be sensitised about the functioning of the committees and an effective monitoring mechanism should also be put in place, she said.
Ms. Sathidevi also urged the public to make maximum use of the free counselling services launched at the KWC’s regional centres. Counselling is available at the Kozhikode regional centre on every Monday and Wednesday, and several complaints are being resolved through the facility, she said.
