English Expo at govt. school in Tiruppur earns kudos
A government school in Tiruppur hosted an 'English Expo' to help Tamil-medium students improve their English language skills through interactive exhibits. The event aimed to build student confidence and reduce language anxiety by focusing on grammar, literature, and vocabulary.
Why it matters
Educational initiatives that focus on language proficiency are vital for improving the employability and academic confidence of students in non-English speaking regions.
English Expo 2026 conducted at the Municipal Government Higher Secondary School at Kumar Nagar in Tiruppur city was essentially an underpinning for the doctrine ‘exposure infuses confidence’ in ways more than one, according to the subject teachers.
The event, expanded to two days in its second edition, served as a platform for students in Tamil Medium to learn English conceptually, says N. Kalpana, Graduate Teacher in English at the school.
Three hundred students showcased up to 80 exhibits, focusing on various aspects of English language, including proficiency in vowels and parts of speech, that also required participation of the visitors consisting of peers and teachers from neighbouring schools.
Encompassing English grammar, vocabulary, conversation, language skills, and English literature, the event, Ms. Kalpana said, was designed to equip students with the mentality to shed the fear of the language.
