An Englishman who boldly predicted World Cup glory with a tattoo is considering his options after England’s campaign ended in disappointment against Argentina.
Sean Carrington, 36, from Wigan, Greater Manchester, made headlines last week after receiving a tattoo of the Fifa World Cup trophy above the words “England World Cup Winner 2026” in large capital letters.
Carrington said his confidence in England lifting football’s biggest prize was so strong that he committed to the design shortly after England’s 2-1 victory over Democratic Republic of the Congo in the Round of 32.
England’s hopes were dashed after a 2-1 semi-final defeat to Argentina, forcing Carrington to fall back on a creative addition to his design.
Rather than removing the tattoo, he previously told the BBC he planned to add the words “Just kidding” if his team did lose.
