Engineers receive hands-on training in SCADA, IoT for wastewater management
Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering recently hosted a professional refresher course on SCADA and IoT technologies for wastewater management. The program aimed to train engineers on modern automation systems to improve the efficiency and sustainability of sewage treatment plants.
Why it matters
Integrating advanced automation into public infrastructure is critical for improving urban sanitation and environmental health in India.
The Department of Environmental Engineering at Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering (SJCE), JSS Science and Technology University (JSS STU), Mysuru, recently organised a five-day CPHEEO-certified professional refresher course on automation, Internet of Things (IoT) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems for monitoring sewage treatment plants (STPs).
The programme, titled ‘Automation and Application of IoT and SCADA Systems in Project Monitoring Including Online Monitoring of STP Effluents Using Real-Time Data Systems – Instrumentation, Control and SCADA in STPs: Automation and Monitoring of STPs’, was held under the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Sector Development Scheme of the Central Public Health and Environmental Engineering Organisation (CPHEEO), Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India.
The course was inaugurated by JSS STU Vice-Chancellor A.N. Santosh Kumar, principal (in-charge) of SJCE and dean (Engineering and Technology) C. Natraju, and head of the Department of Environmental Engineering B.M. Sadashiva Murthy.
