Engineering enzymes with potential against ALS and Parkinson's disease

Researchers at Washington University in St. Louis have developed a high-throughput method to rapidly produce and screen engineered "disaggregase" enzymes, specifically Hsp104 from yeast. These enzymes are capable of breaking down misfolded proteins linked to neurodegenerative diseases like ALS and Parkinson's disease.
