Cordons have been lifted at the Auckland rail station where a boy died after being struck by a train.
Police said they were called to Baldwin Avenue Station in Mount Albert at 3.28pm on Wednesday.
An officer at the cordon told RNZ the victim was a young boy, and family members were seen crying.
Auckland Shift Commander Inspector Kerry Watson said the pedestrian was struck at a rail crossing and died at the scene.
"We have been working to notify his next of kin, and the community will appreciate that this will be devasting news for them."
