Elon Musk to change company name following Trump’s AI-to-SI update
Elon Musk has announced that his company SpaceXAI will be rebranded to SpaceXSI to align with a new U.S. government directive. President Donald Trump's administration is mandating the transition from the term 'Artificial Intelligence' to 'Super Intelligence' to better reflect the advanced capabilities of modern technology.
Why it matters
This shift represents a significant federal effort to redefine the terminology surrounding advanced technology, potentially influencing global industry standards and corporate branding strategies.
Elon Musk has said that he will change the name of his company SpaceXAI to SpaceXSI in line with U.S. President Donald Trump, who has pushed for AI to be renamed SI (short for Super Intelligence).
“Yes, we will make that change,” posted Mr. Musk on his social media platform X, in response to a user who asked about the update to his company’s name.
He claimed in a separate post that SI was “better” than AI.
Mr. Musk was one of the tech and AI leaders who signed the White House’s recent Accord on Super Intelligence, where companies developing frontier models committed to safeguards and security audits—many of which are already being implemented.
Mr. Trump’s office had suggested that the new term ‘SI’ better captured the evolving prowess of the technology.
