An engineering student was electrocuted after suffering electric shock from DJ equipment during the annual day celebrations at his college hostel near Coimbatore on October 3.
The police said A. Amilthan, a resident of Kambainallur and a final year BE EEE student at a private college at Vattamalaipalayam, died during the celebrations on the night of October 3. Another student Saran, who tried to rescue Amilthan, also suffered electric shock.
Amilthan’s father complained to the police that the persons who arranged for the DJ equipment, the hostel warden, and the college management failed to ensure safety and acted negligently, resulting in his son’s death.
