Why it matters
Internal party leadership changes are critical indicators of political stability and organizational readiness for upcoming national elections in Ghana.
The newly elected National Democratic Congress (NDC) Constituency Chairman for Upper Denkyira West in the Central Region, Golomeke Joseph Mawule, has pledged to promote unity, transparency and accountability as he prepares to lead the party towards the 2028 general elections.
Mr Mawule secured the chairmanship after defeating incumbent Peter Mensah Boamah in the constituency elections, polling 460 votes against his opponent’s 232.
Speaking to Adom News after his victory, the chairman-elect expressed appreciation to delegates for the confidence they had placed in him and promised to honour the commitments he made during his campaign.
He said his leadership would prioritise fairness, integrity and collective decision-making, with efforts to reconcile divided factions and strengthen cooperation among party members.
According to him, the NDC must resolve internal disagreements and unite behind a common agenda if it hopes to improve its electoral prospects in 2028.
