An elderly woman’s land, allegedly grabbed through impersonation and a fake gift deed, has been restored in her name following intervention by the Karnataka Lokayukta.
The 84-year-old woman, Bharathi Lakshman Reddy, had approached the Lokayukta after discovering that her properties had been transferred to another person using a forged gift deed.
The properties are located in Chikkatattamangala village of Devanahalli taluk. The fake gift deed was allegedly registered at the Hoskote Sub-Registrar’s Office on August 13, 2025, transferring the properties in the name of Shravan Kumar, son of Lakshman Reddy.
Following the complaint, the Lokayukta initiated an inquiry and directed the officials concerned to take action. Police subsequently arrested Lakshmi Devamma, who allegedly impersonated Bharathi Lakshman Reddy, and Shravan Kumar, the alleged beneficiary of the gift deed. A chargesheet has also been submitted before the Lokayukta.
