A 72-year-old woman was killed and robbed of her gold jewellery by an unidentified man near Tiruvallur on Friday.
A senior police official said the man gained entry into Mariyammal’s house in Sevvapet village on the pretext of taking an electricity meter reading. After asking her for some water, he brutally stabbed her with a knife that was concealed in his pocket. He then snatched the gold chain from her neck and fled from the scene.
