Telangana Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao has expressed concern over the impact of El Nino , stating that the rainfall deficit in the State stood at 30% in the ongoing monsoon.
Describing the rare climate event as a “natural calamity” not witnessed in the last 150 years, he said El Nino would have a severe impact on the State during August, September and October.
Speaking to the media after participating in a ‘face-to-face interaction with people’ at Gandhi Bhavan in Hyderabad on Wednesday (July 29, 2026), the Minister said the State government was taking all necessary steps to create awareness among people in every village about the anticipated adverse impact of El Nino.
