Eight years later, Jadeveon Clowney returns to the Texans
NFL pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney has signed with the Houston Texans, returning to the team that drafted him first overall in 2014. Clowney joins a defensive rotation that includes Will Anderson Jr. and Danielle Hunter.
Why it matters
This move is a significant roster development for the Texans as they look to bolster their defensive line for the upcoming season.
At a time when the signs were pointing to a potential return to Cleveland from pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney, he’s instead returning to a different former team.
NFL Network reports that Clowney has agreed to terms with the Texans.
Clowney, who arrived in Houston as the first overall pick in the 2014 draft, spent five years there. He was a Pro Bowler in 2016, 2017, and 2018.
After his fifth season, Clowney was traded to the Seahawks. A year later, Clowney joined the Titans. After two seasons in Cleveland, Clowney’s game of NFL hopscotch continued in Baltimore, Carolina, and Dallas.
He had 8.5 sacks in 13 games (six starts) for the Cowboys in 2025.
