Effective policing must as cybercriminals target vulnerable groups, says Keralam Minister

Higher Education Minister Roji M. John warned that cybercriminals are increasingly targeting vulnerable populations using AI-driven tactics. He spoke at the C0c0n-2026 cybersecurity summit in Kerala, emphasizing the need for improved policing.
Why it matters
Rising cybercrime rates and the exploitation of AI pose significant security risks to personal privacy and social stability.
Children, women, and other vulnerable sections of society are increasingly being targeted by cybercriminals, Higher Education Minister Roji M. John said here on Saturday (October 10, 2026).
The Minister said the growing use of AI was contributing to an increase in cybercrimes, with hackers exploiting the technology to intrude into private spaces and compromise personal information. He was addressing the valedictory session of C0c0n-2026, the cybersecurity summit organised by the Kerala Police in association with the Information Security Research Association.
Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan, who inaugurated the valedictory session, did not speak as he was on a voice rest.
