Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi convened a meeting with officials of the Department of School Education and Literacy on Monday (August 24, 2026) to address controversies surrounding the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
“The meeting reviewed key priorities for strengthening CBSE’s academic, examination and administrative processes, with a focus on greater efficiency, transparency and improved support for students and teachers,” Mr. Joshi wrote on X .
CBSE is facing intense public scrutiny, particularly surrounding its 2026 Class 12 board examination evaluation process, issues concerning technological mismanagement and administrative failures, and a trust deficit among students.
The newly introduced on-screen marking system (OSM) for Class 12 answer sheets came under scrutiny after students, who applied for re-evaluation, discovered that the scanned copies of answer books sent to them belonged to other individuals. Many complained about blurry and unreadable scans, missing pages, unchecked answers, calculation errors, and frequent portal crash.
