Edinburgh Airport to expand terminal in £500m investment plan

Edinburgh Airport has unveiled a £500m investment programme to expand its terminal and improve facilities over the next five years.

The project includes new gates and aircraft stands, an expanded check-in hall and departure lounge, new food and retail areas and a 60% larger terminal footprint.

Airport bosses said it would support new long and short haul routes, and grow international connectivity at Scotland's busiest terminal.

The investment also includes improvements across the airport campus, with additional electric vehicle infrastructure and a new access road.

First Minister John Swinney visited the airport's South East Pier expansion, the first phase of the development due to open in summer 2027.

Swinney said: "This significant investment will enable Edinburgh Airport to compete with airports around the world.
