Two years after the deadly collapse of Kiteezi landfill, engineers are using technology developed in Japan to make parts of the site safer. The rehabilitation combines terraces, compaction, drainage and a semi-aerobic system known as the Fukuoka Method, designed to improve ventilation and control contaminated liquid inside the landfill.
