ECI to conduct special drive to enrol left-out electors in Villupuram

The Election Commission of India is launching a special drive to enroll eligible voters in Villupuram who were missed during previous registration phases. This initiative is part of the continuous updation of electoral rolls.
Why it matters
Ensuring accurate and inclusive electoral rolls is fundamental to the democratic process and voter participation in India.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has planned to conduct a special drive for the enrolment of left-out and young/first-time eligible electors under the process of continuous updation of electoral rolls in States and Union Territories where the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) has already been completed.
According to a release from District Election Officer and Collector Sheik Abdul Rahman, the Declaration Form attached with Form 6 will be used during the SIR phase only. For the non-SIR period, the forms applicable under the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960, will be used.
