Police in Tirunelveli have arrested an eatery owner who erected a banner showing Lord Vinayaka eating biryani.

Police said a banner portraying an image of the God eating biryani had been erected near an eatery at V.M. Chathram in Palayamkottai. Following objections on social media by Hindu Munnani and others, one Selvaraj filed a complaint with Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital Police Station against the shop owner M. Jayanth, 30. He said it would create animosity between different faiths and consequent religious riots and hence demanded due action against him.
