Why it matters
This case represents a significant win for anti-corruption efforts in Kenya, demonstrating the state's commitment to recovering unexplained wealth from public officials.
EACC has obtained orders for the forfeiture of assets worth KSh207,741,928 held by one Andrew Biketi Musuya, a former accountant at the Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation and the County Government of Trans Nzoia.
In a judgment delivered on October 8, 2026, Lady Justice Rose Ougo of the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Court found that Musuya had failed to satisfactorily explain the disproportion between the assets he acquired and his known legitimate sources of income.
EACC investigations established that between January 1, 2013, and October 31, 2018, Musuya accumulated assets valued at KSh289,932,910. These comprised cumulative bank and M-Pesa deposits of KSh53,532,910, landed properties valued at KSh226.8 million, and motor vehicles worth KSh9.6 million.
