DVAC traps AEE, AE of Water Resources Department
The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) arrested an Assistant Executive Engineer and an Assistant Engineer from the Water Resources Department for demanding a bribe. The officials were caught accepting marked currency in exchange for issuing a No Objection Certificate for a construction project.

The Assistant Executive Engineer and Assistant Engineer of Water Resources Department were trapped by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) personnel on August 24.
According to official sources, the DVAC Tiruvarur Unit, headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police Nandagopal, received a complaint from a hotelier who was promoting a lodging house at Velankanni in Nagapattinam district stating that the Water Resources Department officials were demanding bribe.
He had approached the WRD officials seeking permission to build uction of a culvert across a canal separating his project site and the carriageway, with his own fund. On receiving his application, the AEE and AE demanded ₹3 lakh to issue the NoC.
