DVAC police raid drug control office; recover ₹65,700 from three pharmacy owners

Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) Wing police, during a surprise check at the Office of the Assistant Director of Drug Control on Thursday, recovered ₹65,700 from three pharmacy owners.
Sources in the DVAC Wing said a surprise check was conducted at the Office of the Assistant Director of Drug Control in Maharaja Nagar in Palayamkottai by DSP Maclaurin Escol and Inspector Robin Gnana Singh, following information that senior officials there were taking hefty bribes from pharmacy owners.
When the police entered the office, the owners of three pharmacies were in the chamber of Assistant Director of Drug Control Mohammed Kamal.
Though the police recovered only ₹500 from Mohammed Kamal, ₹65,700 was recovered from the pharmacy owners while they were holding talks with the officer.
