Former Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh said that it is his duty to tell his party (BJP) what he feels about Punjab, and that does not mean he is quitting the party.

Mr. Singh said he is 84 but not old yet, citing Morarji Desai, who became Prime Minister at a very late age.
"I am 84, but Morarji Desai was also 92...," he said on Friday (September 25, 2026) at the launch of the book "Bishan with Love" in memory of former cricketer Bishan Singh Bedi. Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah, who was also present, said he wanted Amarinder Singh to become Chief Minister once again and wished him so.
