NEW DELHI: ABVP’s Yash Dabas was elected president of the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU), while independent candidate Deepanshu Shokeen won the vice-president’s post as results for the four central panel positions were announced on Saturday.Dabas secured 24,576 votes to defeat NSUI’s Vijay Shankar Meena, who polled 22,523 votes. Left candidate Anaya Raturi finished third with 5,377 votes, while ASAP’s Ashmit Kumar secured 1,388 votes.The presidential contest also saw Sameer Kumar receive 1,115 votes, while Ejaj Mansuri and Samarth Beniwal polled 837 and 819 votes, respectively.The vice-president’s post went to independent candidate Deepanshu Shokeen, who emerged as the highest vote-getter among the four central panel winners with 30,615 votes.Shokeen is an NSUI rebel.ABVP’s Ishu Maurya finished second with 16,910 votes, while NSUI’s Vir Chatrath polled 4,313 votes.
