DTC drivers’ strike disrupts commute; protest to continue

A strike by drivers employed through private agencies for the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) disrupted bus services across the city on Tuesday, leaving commuters, including students and office-goers, stranded for hours. The drivers are demanding higher wages and medical and social security benefits.

No buses left several depots, including those in Burari, Nangloi, Rewla Khanpur, GTK, Nehru Place and Shadipur. A large number of buses remained parked at the Burari depot, while drivers held a demonstration near the Burari crossing. In several areas, buses were also stopped mid-route, leaving passengers to find alternative modes of transport.

The disruption particularly affected students and office-goers dependent on DTC buses for their daily commute.
