Dry day in Coimbatore, Tiruppur and Nilgiris districts on October 2
Authorities in the Coimbatore, Tiruppur, and Nilgiris districts of Tamil Nadu have ordered all liquor shops and bars to close on October 2. This measure is in observance of Gandhi Jayanti, and officials have warned of strict action against any establishments that violate the order.

The Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (TASMAC) retail liquor shops (FL1), attached bars, recreation clubs (FL2) and licensed bars attached to hotels and restaurants (FL3) have been ordered to remain closed and stop liquor sales for the day. Authorities have warned that action will be taken against establishments violating the order.
