A 25-year-old man allegedly assaulted a government bus conductor and injured the driver after creating a disturbance while travelling in an inebriated condition near Anthiyur here on Wednesday evening (September 9, 2026).
The bus (Route No. 20C), belonging to the Anthiyur depot of the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation, was proceeding from Gobichettipalayam to Vellithiruppur. The bus was driven by Gunasekaran, 49, and the conductor was Saravanan, 58.
When the bus reached Kuppanankadu near Anthiyur, the passenger, identified as Perumal alias Jeevanandham, of Gobichettipalayam, allegedly continued to create a disturbance. The conductor and driver asked him to get off the bus. The man allegedly became agitated and punched Mr. Saravanan on his nose.
