Drug trafficking, traffic management to be top priorities: Police Commissioner
The new Police Commissioner of Hubballi-Dharwad, Borase Bhushan Gulabrao, has identified drug trafficking and traffic management as his primary administrative priorities. He plans to leverage academic partnerships and strict enforcement to address these urban challenges.
Why it matters
The appointment signals a shift in local law enforcement strategy toward data-driven and collaborative approaches to urban safety and order.
New Police Commissioner of Hubballi-Dharwad Borase Bhushan Gulabrao, who took charge on Thursday, said that controlling drug trafficking and improving traffic management in the twin cities would be among his top priorities.
He was speaking to presspersons after taking charge from Police Commissioner N. Shashikumar in Hubballi on Thursday.
Mr. Bhushan said he had familiarised himself with the city’s policing requirements before taking charge and was aware of the expectations of the people from the Police Department. “We will work as a team to ensure peace and maintain law and order in the city,” he said.
Noting that Hubballi-Dharwad was the second-largest urban centre in Karnataka after Bengaluru, Mr. Bhushan said providing a people-friendly policing system and ensuring the safety of women and children, besides tackling cybercrime, would get priority.
