Drug-Free Coimbatore Mission: District police check accommodations of college students at 50 locations
Coimbatore district police conducted intensive anti-drug raids across 50 locations housing college students. The operation resulted in three cases related to narcotics and banned tobacco, alongside the seizure of 14 vehicles.

The Coimbatore district police, as part of ‘Drug-Free Coimbatore Mission’, conducted intensive checks at places where college students reside and registered three cases.
One case was related to possession of ganja and two cases pertained to possession of banned tobacco product. Further, 14 vehicles found without proper documents were seized, and verification of documents and ownership is under way.
The intensive anti-drug enforcement, sustained under the supervision of Superintendent of Police, Coimbatore District, Pavan Kumar Reddy, IPS, was carried out on Saturday (August 22, 2026) at residential locations of students studying in 30 colleges, in the limits of Kovilpalayam, Sulur and Chettipalayam Police Stations.
Simultaneous checks were conducted at more than 50 locations, including rooms and houses occupied by college students, a press release issued by the Coimbatore district police said.
