Drought: Chamarajanagar DC bans transportation of fodder beyond the district’s borders

With the State Government declaring all the taluks in the border district of Chamarajanagar as drought-hit, Deputy Commissioner Shreeroopa has banned transportation of fodder grown in the district to other districts and States as a precautionary measure to prevent a shortage of fodder for livestock.
The Deputy Commissioner has issued orders in this regard under the Disaster Management Act, 2005.
Police officials in stations located along the district’s borders and personnel manning the Forest Department checkposts have been instructed to remain particularly vigilant and alert in this regard.
The Deputy Commissioner has warned of legal action in accordance with the law against persons responsible for transportation of fodder from Chamarajanagar district to other districts or States.
