Drone operations have been prohibited in specified areas of Coimbatore district for 48 hours ahead of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay’s visit on September 30 (Wednesday) for the Dharapuram Assembly bypoll campaign.
Mr. Vijay is scheduled to fly from Chennai to Coimbatore before proceeding to Dharapuram.
The areas have been declared temporary red zones on security grounds. The restriction will be in force from 1 a.m. on September 29 to 1 a.m. on October 1.
According to the district administration, the temporary red zones include Kariyampalayam junction on the Coimbatore city limits, Neelambur Outpost Police Station, Kaniyur toll plaza, Karumathampatti Four Road, Somanur Power House and the Somanur Noyyal river bridge up to the Tiruppur district border.
