Drone flying banned in parts of Chennai on October 11 ahead of PM Modi’s visit

Greater Chennai Police have declared several areas as 'Red Zones' for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's upcoming visit, banning the use of drones and other aerial objects. This restriction is part of broader security measures already in place across the city until October 16.
Why it matters
Security protocols for high-profile political visits often disrupt local civilian activities and airspace usage in major urban centers.
The ban, except for activities authorised as part of government arrangements, will be in force on Sunday
The Greater Chennai Police have declared areas around Meenambakkam, Guindy, Kotturpuram, Porur, and Nandambakkam, and the routes to be taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Chennai on Sunday, as ‘Red Zones’, prohibiting the flying of drones and other unmanned aerial objects.
The ban, except for activities authorised as part of government arrangements, will be in force on Sunday, the police said in a press release on Friday.
