A 29-year-old driver has been sentenced to nearly ten years in prison for a fatal hit-and-run in Gillingham that killed an 89-year-old man. The driver, who was speeding and driving without insurance, carried the victim on his car roof for over a mile.

A dangerous driver who carried a grandfather on the roof of his Mercedes for more than a mile after a fatal hit-and-run has been jailed.
Dental surgeon Tom Wallace died on the A289 Gads Hill in Gillingham at around 12.10pm on December 29 last year.
Albert Matraxhiu, of Orange Hill, Edgware, pleaded guilty to causing the 89-year-old’s death by dangerous driving on February 2 at Maidstone Crown Court.
He had previously admitted driving without insurance, without a licence, failing to stop, failing to report an accident, and perverting the course of justice.
At a hearing today (July 31) at the same court, the 29-year-old was jailed for a total of nine years and 10 months.
Matraxhiu will be disqualified from driving for six years after his release and will need to take an extended driving test.
