Former UFC middleweight champion Dricus Du Plessis is focused on reclaiming his title and eventually moving up to the 205-pound division. He aims to become a two-division champion, mirroring his success in KSW.
Why it matters
Du Plessis' career trajectory is a major narrative in the UFC, impacting the landscape of the middleweight and light heavyweight divisions.
Former UFC middleweight champion Dricus Du Plessis is looking for big fights.
Since losing his title to Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 319 , Du Plessis rebounded with a big win over ex-champ Kamaru Usman . Du Plessis' head coach Morne Visser made a case for a Du Plessis title shot , and the South African is eager to re-gain his throne.
Not only that, but Du Plessis (24-3 MMA, 10-1 UFC) wants to replicate what he achieved at KSW by becoming a two-division UFC champion.
"I want to get my belt back and eventually go up to 205 and go test myself there, and I'm certain that I will be a champion," Du Plessis said on "The Sias du Plessis Show." "I'm big enough for that division, and I'm certain I can be champion at that division, as well."
