Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy Award-2026 to be conferred on M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation

The M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF) will receive the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy Award-2026 for its contributions to agriculture and food security. The award honors the legacy of the late M.S. Swaminathan and his role in India's Green Revolution.

The Dr. YSR & Dr. KVP Foundation will confer the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy Award-2026, carrying a cash prize of ₹25 lakh, on the M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF) in recognition of its contribution to agriculture, food security, sustainable development and rural livelihoods.
The award will be presented at the Constitution Club of India in New Delhi on September 2. MSSRF chairperson Soumya Swaminathan will receive the award on behalf of the foundation, according to a press release.
The award seeks to honour the legacy of former chief minister of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy (YSR) and his emphasis on the welfare of farmers and the poor. The MSSRF carries forward the legacy of its founder, the late M.S. Swaminathan, whose scientific leadership was instrumental in India’s Green Revolution and the country’s transition from food scarcity to self-reliance.
