On the occasion of Teachers’ Day, the city-based Dr. P.S. Shankar Pratisthan announced the opening of applications for its medical scholarships for the 2026–31 academic batch. The financial assistance is aimed at supporting economically disadvantaged and meritorious first-year MBBS students across Karnataka, regardless of their community background.

According to a press release issued on Friday by Narendra Badasheshi, honorary secretary of the pratisthan, the scholarship applies exclusively to students who passed their 2nd PU examination in April-May 2026 and have secured admission to the first year of an MBBS course in Allopathic Medical Sciences during August or September 2026.

Selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend of ₹1,500 throughout the four-and-a-half-year academic duration (54 months) of their MBBS programme, totalling ₹81,000 per student. Preference during selection will be given to candidates who completed their schooling in rural areas and through Kannada medium.
