DPA positions Kandla as green fuels, shipping hub
The Deendayal Port Authority (DPA) is positioning Kandla as a major hub for green hydrogen, green shipping, and maritime decarbonization. The initiative aims to attract global investment and technology to meet India's Net Zero 2070 goals.
Why it matters
This development is a key component of India's industrial strategy to transition toward sustainable energy and maritime logistics.
Deendayal Port Authority (DPA), Kandla, said it is positioning Kandla as an emerging hub for green fuels, green shipping, shipbuilding and maritime decarbonisation.
“The plan is to create a platform where global expertise, technology and investment can converge with India’s growing green maritime ambitions,” the port authority which recently hosted Kandla Forum 2026 said.
The Kandla Forum 2026 on the theme “Anchoring Maritime Decarbonisation”, brought together global and Indian stakeholders from the hydrogen, clean energy, shipping, shipbuilding, engineering, technology and financial sectors to discuss about the opportunities.
DPA said it was actively advancing India’s commitment towards achieving Net Zero by 2070. The Forum was conceived to connect companies capable of developing the green-energy value chain with DPA’s leadership and enable focussed, on-ground engagement.
