<p>The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) underscored the importance of using science-based tools to help government agencies and the public prepare for El Ni o, which is expected to intensify in the coming months.</p><p>DOST Eastern Visayas Regional Director John Glenn Oca a highlighted the potential of the agency's Project SARAi (Smart Approaches to Reinvigorate Agriculture as an Industry) to help farmers, who are among the sectors most vulnerable to drought.</p><p>"Our farmers can expect that we will have a timely and accurate advisory on the situation of their specific areas, especially in Region 8, because this is one of the regions where the impact of El Ni o is expected to intensify.
