A Ballybofey woman has graduated as the top General Practitioner trainee in the country.

Dr Hannah McCauley Peoples celebrated with family and friends yesterday as she graduated top of her class from the Irish College of GPs in a ceremony at Dublin's Convention Centre.

The mother-of-two received the Ellard Epple Award for achieving the highest mark in Ireland in the Irish College of General Practitioners examinations.

Hannah is certainly no stranger to the medical profession, however. In fact, you could say it's in her genes.

Her father, Dr Denis McCauley, is the Donegal Coroner, a former president of the Irish Medical Organisation and the current president of the Coroner's Society of Ireland.
