Don’t reduce width of service roads, residents association urges government
A residents' federation in Tiruchi is urging the government to maintain the originally proposed width for service roads along the Palpannai–Thuvakudi stretch. They argue that the project should adhere to a 2019 court judgment rather than reducing road width to save on land acquisition.

The Federation for Retrieval of Palpannai–Thuvakudi Service Roads has urged the TVK government not to reduce the proposed width of the service roads and to implement the long-pending project in accordance with the court’s final judgment in 2019.
Members of the federation recently met Minister for Public Works and Highways Department Aadhav Arjuna and sought steps to expedite the project. The Minister, they said, instructed officials to commence all work related to the service road without delay.
Federation president S. Subramanian told reporters on Saturday that the previous government had submitted an affidavit before the court stating that the service road would be constructed with a width of 33 metres. The federation had now urged the present government to withdraw the earlier stand and implement the project with wider roads in accordance with the 2019 final judgment.
