Don't Panic, the Pixel Watch 1 Isn't Losing Google Health Support
Google has clarified that recent error messages warning Pixel Watch 1 users about a loss of health data syncing were sent in error. The first-generation smartwatch remains supported for health features as long as it runs Wear OS 4.
Why it matters
This highlights the growing consumer anxiety regarding planned obsolescence and the limited software support lifecycles for wearable technology.
Worry not: Your first-generation Pixel Watch can still sync with Google Health. Following reports from some smartwatch owners on Reddit that Google Health was warning them that their Pixel Watch would no longer sync health data, Google has shared that the message was sent in error. Provided your Pixel Watch is running at least Wear OS 4, you can continue importing data to your heart’s content.
“To clear up the recent confusion: the Pixel Watch 1 remains fully supported,” Google Community Manager Stefanie Frederick shared in a post. “We had a bug where some users received this card incorrectly. Thanks for raising this, it has now been resolved.”
