Don’t acquire land if width of service road is reduced, residents urge government

Federation of Retrieval of Tiruchi Palpannai-Thuvakudi Service Road on Sunday urged the State government to stop the land acquisition process initiated by the district administration for forming road with the reduced width.
A resolution passed at the meeting of the federation here said it was unacceptable to reduce the width of the proposed road to 33 metres from 45 metres. The purpose of forming a service road would be defeated if the width was reduced to 33 metres. The Madras High Court in 2019 had stated that the width of the road could be 45 metres.
