"A rhinestone life that shone bright enough for the world to see, Dolly will forever stand as an inspiration not only through her timeless music and prolific songwriting, but also her wit, warmth, and kindness that made us all feel like family," read the statement, which noted Parton "died peacefully" in Nashville, Tenn. on Aug. 25, 2026.
Her singular performing career spanned seven decades and only grew in prominence over all of that time. She came to fame as a star in country music, and went on to become one of its most recognizable and universally adored ambassadors to broader popular culture.
